Mate there's a place just south east of the barron river bridge that hires tinnies for the day...it's also a tackle shop. on capt cook hwy. they'll put you onto what's happening in the river itself as well. barra may be tapering off a little by now, but you can always get lucky, and jacks should still be goen. plenty of structure downstream from the boat ramp at the barron to explore if you hire the tinny! go upstream and you might spot one of the resident handbags!
