    Exclamation Vale John Meiers

We would like to take this opportunity to remember a very good friend of ours John Meiers.
Over the weekend of April 4/5th, John and mate Jason, who both worked for Cunningham Marine, went out for a fish on Saturday, where John’s life was tragically cut short due to a boating accident off Cape Moreton. Unfortunately, Jason is still reported missing.
For the people that knew John, they will know that the fishing fraternity has lost a truly passionate fisherman. For those that never got to meet John personally, you may know him through his recent writings in Bush’n’Beach magazine, the many tournaments he fished in, or just heard of him. However it is that you know him you would know his love for fishing went beyond the fishing itself, he loved everything about fishing and he loved sharing what he could with others. He was a very down to earth genuine guy that would talk to anyone as well as lend an ear to anyone’s yarn, and with his vast knowledge made it a joy to talk with him.
John…wherever you are now, I know you will be fishing, but know this also you will be dearly missed by us all back here.
    Tight Lines friend.

If he caught fish like that HERE, they must be HUGE in Heaven!

I didn't know him, but have read his work. Please accept condolences from me and my wife. We have ached for his family and friends, watching this story unfold.

    Regards,

I've also seen some of his writings, but didn't know him personally.
I got the impression through the written word that he was a passionate Fisherman.
Our thoughts are with his Family & Friends.................an absolute tragedy.

    Eric and Deb,

I could not have said that better myself.

John's passion spilled out when ever he spoke of fishing and particularly when speaking of fishing with his kids.Even for a passionate fisho like myself his passion about fishing was infectious and to speak off-hand with him about new gear and techniques and how we could both tweek what we already knew to improve how it works was a sheer pleasure that I will miss for a long time yet.
He was one of sport fishing's true achievers ,always on the limit of what we know about inshore light tackle sport fishing and he was pretty slick on barra too.

John..mate,you are a true champion of life and sport fishing and i will miss the random yaps about what we have both been catching and not catching lately.....seeya mate.
