    EXTREMELY annoyong banner advertisement

    Hello,

I can't be the only person utterly fed up with that 'win mobile credit' banner ad. It's terribly noisy and it's not always convenient to mute sound, ie: in the case of listening to music or an audio visual media file.

Worst of all, it's like a dinner bell to my kids, they come running to see what it is and I tend to not get any peace and quiet.

    Matt.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing rods.

Goggle and install ADBLOCKER. Its free and works a treat. No more ads .

    Thanks supertinny,

can you be more specific?, the Ad Blocker I found via Google was only free for 15 day trial. There are several others all calling themselves Ad Blocker as well it seems. I am using Firefox.

    Thanks

    OK,

seem to have had some success. Downloaded the Adblock Plus add on for Firefox and set the filters, so far so good!

If you can tell me the actual ads I can ad them to the google block list. I need teh URL of the ad, not just "Those date site ads"

If you give me actual details I can do something about it.

It hasn't popped up yet today.. Perhaps it's only later on in the evening? I'll grab the link the next time I see it.

    Cheers

What mobile phone ad are you talking about? Ive never seen it.....

Firefox has loads of handy plugins, just google firefox Add-ons. Once youve changed from IE to Firefox, you wont go back.

Apart from Adblocker, theres Flashblock. This will ignore all Flash content (ads) and make your page load much faster.

Another good plugin is FLV player, which lets you Save any flash video to your desktop, like Youtube, etc. Then you dont have to download, when you want to watch the same video over again.

Unless I am mistaken using ad blockers will reduce the revenue available to ausfish for displaying advertisements in the first place. In such a case, being that I'm not a full paying member, I'd prefer to leave the banner advertisements 'turned on'.

Thank you for blocking at one Ausfish. The sound was most annoying!

    Re: EXTREMELY annoyong banner advertisement

Yes, I agree, that was also my concern. I think revenue is raised only if someone clicks on the ad.......? Id thought long and hard before posting the Flashblock link. Im sure the powers that be will edit it as they see fit. Ive no wish to offend anyone in charge.

The main reason I use Flashblock is because the wife looks over my shoulder and sees girly ads for singles, and wonders what type of website Im on. Honestly love, its a fishing site!!!! Only half the ads are Flash based anyway, so you still see some other ads.
