    Vista

Need some help on Vista..... A relative of mine made the mistake setting up with vista

I need to un-install a program, and also need to get into accessories / system tools to do a disc clean up and defrag - BUT...... what a horrible system

it doesn't have a 'add / remove' programs option easily evident, and nor can I find where to do a disc clean up. Completely different to XP etc.

can anyone tell me how to do this on a vista OS computer?

    Re: Vista

Start -> ControlPanel -> Programs and Features

Its just a bit different. Takes a bit to get used to, as does any new OS version. Pretty much works the same as XP, just that the menu is organised a bit differently.

To do a defrag, Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools - Disk Defragmenter

Disk clean up can be had via the System Tools menu as well, althogh better off as follows

disk cleanup, the long way. Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management then select disk management

Or the short cut. Start -> right click on computer -> Manage then select disk management

Disk cleanup is done by right clicking the drive and selecting properties.

I, at first thought that Vista was sh*t after reading reviews, but my new - well 9 month old quad core machine has vista on it and with the exception of a few games and older programs I am able to run most ot the software I have. The older programs can be run on my XP machine

The best way to find out if a program is compatible with vista is to do a search on google - e.g. Overlord pc vista - and you can soon see if it is ok for Vista or google - Overloard system requirements and then you will find out the total requirements to run that program

It is possible to get Vista and XP to run on the same PC but not at the same time - is called Dual Booting but should be done by an expert

    Re: Vista

My Vista 64 runs very well. Still get the odd crash, but generally it's very reliable. It's just a little different to XP.

    Re: Vista

use the search feature vista has, its awesome, for eg, put disk defrag, the list gets smaller the more ya type, have a go.

just click the window icon bottom left hand corner its right there. best thing about vista!

    cheers
