Advice on boat for south coast rivers/lakes

After selling last boat around ten years ago and moving from the tropics to Canberra, I've got the itch to go fishing again.

My plan is to get a small boat to hit some of the rivers in the south coast around Batemans Bay and perhaps the Lake Eucumbene & Jindabyne for some feshwater fishing.

I'm currently going to have a look at Webster Twinfisher Manta Ray 3.8 with a 18 HP 4 Stroke Tohatsu for $7500. I'm thinking this should suit my needs.

Anyone have any comments on this boat.

That sounds like a perfect boat for what you are doing. And not a bad price either. Just remember they are not a fast hull, so you wont be breaking any speed records, but they are very stable and roomy for their size, draw a little more water than a similar sized v-nosed punt, but that shouldnt be an issue where you are fishing. They were originally designed for the exact area and purpose you have in mind.

with that rig you will abe to fish a thousand places, even down on the coast at Batemans Bay, it will be a good boat to use, remember it is still only 3.8M long, but it is a BIG 3.8 being almost square (well rectangular) and it will have unrivaled stability.

Any idea on the performance of the 18hp 4 Stroke Tohatsu?
