    Fingermark in the lower boyne?

Has anyone heard of fingermark being caught in the lower part of the boyne river? after hookin a 52cm version on saturday and being busted off a few times was it just a fluke or do they frequent the river often?

Boyne River runs between Gladstone and Tannum Sands.
I never fished it, but I use to live near the Calliope River, and I gave that a hiding!!

if you got a 52cm model, than one would think that there are bigger 1's around.

They are in the calliope and even toolooa bends so they should be regular in the boyne as well. Bigger ones around the wharves. Generally fish the deeper areas on the smaller tides where there is rock or gravel or pylons. I use live mullet either side of the low. I was planning on finding some better harbour spots this year. Good luck and post some pictures.

The knife got to it before the camera did so i didnt get a pic but here's a barra i caught from the same spot. i jagged the fingery a couple of hundred meters up from the boyne boat ramp (bray park), using live snook and mullet for bait.
im actully chasin Jacks but seem to catch everything else!

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges

Mate I know on the first day of the hook up last year someone brought in a live one that was around 54cm which was caught in the boyne. So yes they are definitely there.

Warti has it spot on about what places the like and the time to catch them
one of the easiest ways to find them is troll a chrome type lures either silver and blue or red or black about the size of a manns 20+ that occaisionally bumps the bottom so watch your sounder and use a lure for that depth

cheers lads, i just might have to start targeting them and see if there is a abundance of them in my local river, saves me traveling that little bit further doesnt it! and if the by catch are some nice barra, jacks and grunter then hey a bit of fun is better than nothin.

they are there but you gotta work hard for them, if they started moving the big models from awonga to pikes creek, over time it would be insane
