    t'ville after dark.

    hi all,
just a quick 1 this time.
mozza & me hit the bowen road bridge for a couple of hours tonite.
i had a smack on a bat wing frog & missed, mozza got a hook up & dropped a decent tarpon. there were a few more follows & half hit's, i got 2 barra the first going about 40cm, the other going about 35cm both on popper!
gee i am starting to really like using little poppers slow at nite for barra!

    ron.
ps, the first barra had a tag in it.

Obviously that first tacker came over the weir Ron, did you get the tag details?

    Good job anyways, Andrew.

no tag details, it was covered in green slime + being dark & i didn't want to play around with him to much.

Very nice work! Must have been heart-stopping stuff to hear those boofs in the dark. Which popper did the trick?

    nic,
rapala, skitter pops. been using sure catch poppers but the hooks keep getting caught up, with the skitter pops they dont & you can get a good bloop happening. yes "heart-stopping" mozza craps himself when there is a smash on top, close to him.

    Yers,

Note the durrie in the left hand...

Also Ron, I noticed your hits were way out in 'no heart attack' land in the middle.

Nic, I also like the 45mm R2S gold model - the other good thing about the skitter pops is that they don't have a rattle. We've found that in really quiet water, a bigger sound./rattle seems to scare them away.

that little guy was from our last stocking...only going 40, he must have been release around 25cm, they are usually 40cms...looking a doing a stocking sunday if there are a few guys, don't need every ausfish memeber from townsville but a few would be good, and no offence but sometimes to many people can make it diffucult but more than happy to let you watch, but just don't get offended if you turn up and only record tag sizes or something small but it all needs to be done, our guys a pretty quick and its just things like that or taking fish between boats and tanks etc, just pm me and let me know if your keen, thanks again guys

    regards rhyce

I have been wondering how that farm has been going. Being located at the Sunny Coast, I was thinking they'd need only one cold winter to have massive fish kills. Glad to see there are still plenty of barra for people to catch down there.
