To muse when we can't fish

When a fish is hooked and makes a dash for freedom (not Freeeeedom) why do we call it a "run" - fish have no legs?
Why don't we call it a more bloke-like term like "bolt" - "It's making another bolt".
What other suggestions do you have?

I usually yell out. AAAAAAAGH !!! the fish is displacing more water with violent and erratic thrusts from its powerful tail, propelling it in a forward as well as downward motion while still attached to my fish catching string . The fish is probably thinking "QUICK.....Flibble the hell outta there !!! "

They look like insect legs growing out of its throat. Have a look at the video of a deep-sea species of gurnard.
