Going to Hydeaway Bay for Easter

I am off to Hydeaway Bay in the Whitsundays for easter and will take my 13' tinnie.

Can anyone give me some ideas on where to fish and what I can expect to catch?

Most of my fishing is in creeks, will I need some heavy handlines or the like.

    Your help is much appreciated.

    Cheers Eamon

    Hi Eamon,

Apparently it is a great place to fish although i haven't had time to venture up that way. Get a copy of NQ Fish Finder. You should already have it being up that way. Proserpine River isn't too far away with excellent crabbing, good barra and BIG CROCS. There is also a local publication which you should be able to get a hold of at local servos and newsagents which basically give out local knowledge for the Whitsunday Coast. Its got a pic of a bloke holding a huge trout on the front cover. Forgot the name and publisher.

Search the forum for Dingo Beach or Gloucester Island or Montys resort. Hopefully that will put you in th erught direction.

If needed i will dig up the name of the publication. Also check Conway beach threads.

    Good luck

I was just up there recently, didn't fish though.

It looks a great area for small boat fishing around Gloucester Island in good weather. Should be some reefs close in shore around the island.

    Thanks Mark,

I haven't been any where near the whitsundays, except the highway south.

I was hoping it would be ok for a small boat there Steve.

I will definately post my results on my return.

    Cheers Eamon
