    Re: At Last

    Congrats Jewienewie,
Just recently joined the club too after many years of hoping to land one an in the last 3 weeks have nailed 2, first was up the creek at 5kg an the second was outside at 125cm which has now got me thinkin cause I only got a measure an not a weight that mine would have went nearly 20kg,
Have caught some nice fish over the years but seeing one of these beasts pop up out the back sure gets the heart pumping
    Awesome job mate!!
    Cheers Thorpy

    Hey,
Just out of curiousity how easy would it be to make like a mold of the fish an then EAT them
Or anyone with a rough price on taxiderming a big jew or red or snapper???

    Re: At Last

Thanks for all the replies boys. My leg still gets the shakes when i think about it. I pulled it from about 30ft of water and was only using 10kg mono all round. Your right about the first run. She took off like a freight train then it was just a matter of holding on and waiting for her to tire and hoping everything still stays connected.
I do have one question though. It is my understanding that the jew like dirty water. So if the moon and tide are right and i have the choice of fishing two jewie holes. Am i better off heading to the hole up stream with the dirty water or fish the clear stuff.
Another thing is the head is still wired on a stake in the chicken pen, where do i find the Jewels that people talk about.
    Thanks guys.

    Re: At Last

The ocular jewels are about where the backbone ends and encapsulated in a partitioned space one either side surrounded in the head structure, so behind the eyes but before the start of the backbone.

They sure are an impressive fish to see on their side next to the boat, well done.

    cheers fnq
