    Basics for Lure Making???

    HI all,

    Just wondering what i need to get started to make my own lures??
    Im keen on experimenting with different ideas and designing and using lure that i make.

    start by copying successful designs and get those to swim and then catch fish and then try to improve on the origional and then design your own and develope it until it works better than all others

    Best advice I can give is if you REALLY REALLY want to make lures... get a Dremal, and not a cheap copy. You will need one of them. Get some cheap wood, and practice, dont try and make your finished product first up, give it time, get good at making them and designing... and let me know how it all goes!

    Mate I recently purchased a book called "The Complete Book of Tackle Making" by C. Boyd Pfeiffer.
    2 inches thick and about 550 pages. Covers bloody everything.
    I'm looking into rod building and have tied a few bucktail jigs already and caught a fish on one.
