    sunday morning pine sesh

headed down to the pine with jeremy and dan for a fish this morning , got out on the water by about 7.30 for a late start . tried getting some bait around the quarry but couldnt get any there so we moved . we ended up getting a few mullet , herring and w/whitting and also picked up about 15 prawns against the mangroves in 3 ft off water . while the deckies were catching bait i flicked a few SPs around and picked up 2 just legal bream and 1 undersized and a few undersized flatties . the wind was making it hard to sit right so we went under the bridge and dropped the pick to use some off the bait we got , there were lots pickers on the bottom and we had a few bust offs on the pylons but i manage a really dark little cod a 35cm bream and a poddy nose perch (i think , it looks like a thready but im sure its not) . i kept the 35 bream for the smoker . jeremy didnt catch any on the line but was happy to catch some bait fish in his cast net finaly , he has been practicing in the back yard for ages and this was his first time throwing the net into water and out off the boat .

    cheers

it was pretty packed out , and with the late start it was the first time i have had to park in the big car park . We saw the water police come around the corner from the ramp and pull a tinny over and thought we were next but they turned around and hamerd off towards the mouth full speed ( on the wrong side off the red marker).
also saw saltydog launching with a few mates ( shark lures ) for a ski , nice ski poll mate did it hold up ?

    cheers

i know there were more of the bigger bream at the bridge but with the wind blowing one way and the tide flowing the other we were doing circles around the anchor so it made it hard to get light weights down to them , the 1 i caught was 2 pylons over from where i cast(against the tide) when i set the hook so i was lucky to get it up , the others were smarter and would go straight around the pylon and bust the 10lb leader or the 3lb braid.
did you get the kota back yet cheif ? i got my foot control back last week .

    cheers

it was only 15-20cms tom and im pretty sure it wasnt a thready , the battery in the camera was dead but i think it took the shot just before it died , ill have a look when its charged and put the pick up if it took the shot .

    Re: sunday morning pine sesh

I had a shot at the Pine this morning Nico, started at about 5.30 a.m. Tides were good for another shot at the bream under the freeway bridges. Got 8 pretty good keepers and released another 8 before the tide slowed and the fish went off. I got them on frozen prawns that I got last week in the cast net. Went up the river and had a quick throw to see if there were any more prawns about. Got just under a kilo in about half an hour. The wind was blowing pretty hard so I gave it away about 10.15. Nice easy morning despite the wind - everyone else must have been scared off by the forecast. Only one other boat went past me the whole time I was anchored under the bridges.
    Cheers Freeeedom

Souds like you did quite well for what conditions you had mate!! a 35cm bream is a good fish and I am sure it will go down well smoked Even the little buggers give you trouble around them pylons!! great fun we should do another night session for them there in the next couple of weeks.

    cheers

nice one on the session there Nico, I got in at about 6.30 on the sunday and drifted around got a little interest in the 2'' shrimps but managed to pull in a flatty with the 3" minnow, it only went 27cm but was enough for me to be happy... LoL There was so many people in the pine river it wasn't funny, and the people who have no idea about how boat ramps work, backing the boats down on top of others I find the weekend speedboat family's just have no idea!

freedom did you get em on top off the pylons ? i only had a few hits up there and one off them was the cod , the bigger fish were under the pylons and hard to get too .
brandon im keen on a night trip to the bridge , its been a while .
mossy i was useing a 3" power minnow (blood worm) when i got the little bream and flatties , they were right up in the shade and cover off the mangroves feeding on the prawns .

    cheers
