    Smoke

Can anyone assist with some info?
Have an 04 GU Patrol 4.2 Diesel (81,000 km) which has just been svc'ed, by Nissan dealer, ($1100.00 thank u very much) and it has started blowing white/grey smoke, mainly when you put the foot down. Has had a full power upgrade done by Motson's.
Can anyone assisst with what may be the problem - if any?
    Cheers

    Re: Smoke

Sounds like the dealer overstepped their competency level and fiddled with tuning that takes experience based talent to achieve well, they are great parts replacement people though.

IMO take it to a dedicated diesel mechanic, one that openly is known to fiddle the performance side and may even have a dyno, it's fixable just a poor job that most dealers are simply not capable of doing much better or even care to often, it's sort of understandable 80% of their customers have to be watched not to put coolant in the oil fill hole.

    cheers fnq

    Re: Smoke

FNQ is on the money sounds like poorly adjusted injection timing.
I wouldnt think so with the amount of km on the clock but IF an incorrect engine oil has been used it will also blow smoke but it will be more bluish than white.

    Re: Smoke

I have had a little bit of experience with white smoke coming out of my trucks,
this was a result of water.
Water in the combustion chamber means white smoke.
For your sake i hope not.

    Re: Smoke

Benny...know about the turbo thats why got a new one from Motsons.
Rang the Nissan mob who done the svc and they say it may have "too much" oil in it.
Gawby...I hope not too. Seems to be running ok other than the smoke.
    Motsons Monday perhaps?
