Bream fishers given an extention to proposed changes

    Just read this:

    http://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au...2105_news.html

Basically, they DPI$F forgot to include the new possession limit for bream in the recently released public documents.

The possession limit, which was to be 30 for all bream species, that was supposed to come into effect Yesterday (Sunday 1st March 2009) will now not come into effect until 1 March 2010, when the new size limit of 25cm will come into force.

Though I don't really care, for me, bream just represent another live bait option, but you poor blokes down south who have nothing better to catch might find some relief .

Honestly it does not bother me, I'm a mad keen bream fisherman and 25 is even a bit on the small side. On the odd occassions I DO keep them 27cm is the limit but even thats a bit small. Bream really need to be 30cm+ to be worth keeping.

I know it won't bother the majority of members here, just thought I'd poke a bit of fun

Now why would the government delay the changes to bag and size limits for bream and tailor for an extra 12 months?
It wouldn't have anything to do with these being the most popular recreational species and an election happening sometime soon - would it?

No - it couldn't. I'm just getting cynical in my old age. Politicians aren't that devious - are they?

IMHO the size limit for bream should be either 27 or 30......anything under that is just not worth keeping. And I AM a bream fisherman, amongst other things. I have a self imposed size limit of 30cm when i am fishing....same as a self imposed limit of 50cm on Duskies. If I catch a fish...i want to be able to get a decent feed off it before I will put it in the esky. Whiting need to be 30cm as well.

Why would some one want to keep and CLEAN more than 30 bream anyway??
A dozen should be a feed for any family.

Hero status in their own mind.

    freezer stockers.

after all 30 bream is only 2 feeds for a family of 7 .

There are quite a few things that didn't go thru.

How many people still don't know andot the suicide dilly ban due next year.

and why were all these changes braught thru before the election....all braught in in such a hurry that they barely got the documents out before the laws came into effect............hmm oh yeh green votes.

    cheers
    cheers
Its the details, those little details, that make the difference.
