G'day all,

Thinking of buying one of these www.cgear.com/caravanCampers.htm to put out front of the camper trailer when there's not much grass around at the camp site. They look the goods, but can anyone here confirm they are as good as they say they are, before I spend my hard earned. Any comments appreciated.

i went to bunnings got some shade cloth the heavy duty stuff! works a treat! the sand falls right through!

That stuff is dual grade mesh. Sounds good but how easy is it to get the sand/dirt out once it's trapped.
We use those foamy squares with the big holes in them that you get from the camping shops or pretty well anywhere and they're great as well.
Pull them all apart and pack away.
Only trouble is they're very bulky.

I have tried the normal shade cloth shano, but on dusty dirt it seems to come up through it. Might be right for sand though. The heavy duty type, is it more tightly woven? Might have a look at bunnings if so.

finga, by the video it just all falls through. I've got some of those foam sqaures as well (great in the shower tent), but looking for something that can just fold out and as you say not as bulky.

i have layered mine over 4 times! only down point with mine is it is heavy and when full of sand does take a bit to clean!

Plain old 70% shadecloth is the go, fine particles like sand etc fall straight thru. Saw a guy who made a frame of 30mm polypipe that pushes together and had a perimeter rope sewn into the shadecloth so he can tension the mat with the rope under the frame. End result was the shadecloth was kept off the ground slightly letting all fines pass through and lets the cloth dry quickly after a shower or dew. Bloody ##### setup for a week long camp site.
