    Mooloola river 27-28th feb 2009

    Hi all,

I went fishing yesterday during the day in the Maroochy and only managed one little flatty. Decided I couldn't end the day without seeing some reasonable fish boated, so I called up a mate and we decided to head down to the Mooloola for a fish.

Long story short, because I'm way too tired for a big write up

    Me:
Two good size moses perch on prawn
Two tarpon hooked but lost boat side through jumps and head shake (I forgot to take my net)
One tarpon hooked and boated - All tarpon caught on my $3.76 Frenzy Shad fom BigW on my Starlo stix squidgy spin M, Daiwa Exceler 1500 and Mojiko 6lb braid.

    Mate:
One good little estuary cod on some ganged fresh squid on his dodgiest clunky old reel, old jarvis walker rod and 20lb fireline.

It's just a shame we got back to our starting point where the Tarpon were going mad just a little too late. We only caught the last few minutes of their feeding.

    I've got no complaints..

    I've got

6lb, 15lb and 30lb in the standard braid

    and

    10lb in the 'superstring'

The superstring seems thinner and stiffer whilst the standard stuff is nice and supple.

A mate just brought one of those exceler reels and i'm not going to lie, i'm extremely jealous! Had a flick with it at somerset this weekend and it felt so smooth! Might have to break into some funds soon!

I'm very happy with mine which I snagged at Anaconda for $50 during their 10million dollar clearance sale. I certainly wouldn't hesitate in spending the retail price for a second... Something I might do to replace my Pflueger Medalist 6040 which I've so far been quite unimpressed with.

    Matt.
