    Moreton Is camping ideas

I'm looking to take the family to Moreton for a week in the September school holidays. We camped at Yellow Patch about 5 yrs ago and that was lovely. It was great to walk down to the beach and catch a few bream and whiting with the boy and duck up to Honeymoon Bay for a dip. But the downside was a lot of noise (loud music and campfire chat until the wee hours) from nearby campers, and lots of sandflies. I now have 2 kids (one will be just over 12 months). Are there spots on the island where we'll get less noise and sandflies, or is it all pretty much of a muchness during school holidays?

You should be able to find a spot on the eastern beach with little noise and few/no sandflies. If you get something a bit further north you can duck over to honeymoon bay fairly quickly, and also duck down to blue lagoon as an alternative for the kids to swim. I'm sure it can get busy in school holidays but north of blue lagoon there are a heaps of spots so there should be something that's ok. Of course the extra surf noise on the eastern side helps take the noise from other campers away too.

As mentioned the Eastern beach is probably your best bet, you are away from everything over there. The camp sites have a bit of distance between them and a lot of campers will even put up "Noisy Camp" signs out the front. I'm normally in one!
    Cheers and thanks.

You can drive to within about 300m walk of Honeymoon Bay. It's really not that far to walk from there.

We stayed at the Blue Lagoon camping ground a few weeks ago and there were only 2 or 3 others spots taken so didn't even notice them.

Hard to do if you got to plan around school holidays, but Moreton is very quiet during the week away from school holidays. Got back to teh camp one day early afternoon and decided to go for a fish at dusk and there were only sets of car tracks over the top of ours!
