Hey all
Went down to my favourite quicky spot last night (near breakwall) for a throw with hard bodies and soft plastics. Was about to pack up when I got slammed by a 83 cm Barra. She fought very hard and provided a spectacular aerial display before succumbing. She now rests in a number of thick fillets in my freezer
Might head down again soon.

Nice work mate! Might have to get out there this week after work a few nights I think!
Thanks guys
This balmy weather and the rain drying up should see them come back on the bite I reckon.
Just love fishing for them at night.....dark night, dark water cant see the lure it's all about touch your mind starts drifting off then WHAM!
bewdiful!
Onya RS,
I was wondering where you'd got to...

Hey Mozza
whats happening with dem fingers?
RS, dem fingers are about to smash my line on Friday night, thats what.
Nice Barra too, pity we couldn't get onto any over the weekend, but i spose a mountain of muddies is a good subtitute.
good barra, do the barra hit lures better at night?
Hi Stessco
I have had a lot of success at night with hardbodies (dirty water) and soft plastics (clean water)...this is my own belief and I am sure many have found quite the reverse. For me the real thing has been slow that retrieve right down and sometimes let the lure float back up to the surface....sometimes they smash it when it starts moving again. Try varying your retrieve. Sometimes you may come up empty handed but keep with it (the super slow retrieve at night). I have found it works. I do accept that someone may have found the exact opposite....these are just my thoughts.

Good on yer RS,
I had a go using a classic barra HB of the rocks at jamaica joes using your retrieve but no luck. Im still chasing my first ever barra. Do you think i should try a different lure?
cheers

Try a popper fellas.
If its calm, use a rattle-less popper like a skitta-pop and bloop it nice and slowly.
Cheers

Hey Dunkxx
Mate you cannot go past 'the gold bomber' at night. I have found it to be very effective. Fairly shallow diving depending on the tide.
Anything in black and gold has been working well for me.....but this is nothing new....I am just following somebody else's advice on colours.
