Another pine lizard 15th Feb.
I decided to check out around the new Hornibrook bridge pylons this week as the river was carrying a fair bit of fresh. Plenty of live bait in the river, stacks of mullet, shrimp, and while throwing the net I caught this...
I dunno what it is, and I had enough bait anyhow, so it went back.
I set up with the livies near the pylons that are in the middle of nowhere, and holding up nothing, and started drifting livies in amongst them. Caught about 4 or 5 shovel nosed thingamajigs and lost the tails of a lot of livies. The fish must have been able to see the hook and were biting just behind it.
Finally one bit to close to the hook and this fella came up.
It was another great day in the boat, saw nico and keechie chasing sharks.
Boat ramp was nice and quiet, still plenty of skiers though.

Hey there Brandon, Nico said you were out and about so I kept an eye out for you, but it seems you were elswhere.
Might have been good shark bait that bony, but I'll leave the sharks to you and Nico.
Nice day out the front hey? - I was tempted to head for moreton, but I was out too long and got in enough trouble with the missus as it was LOL.

Nice pine flathead mate! We get a couple of those bony bream looking things when we go cast netting around the fallen trees and pilons near the highway, only fished with them once and managed to pull up a 5 foot plus shovel nose! So since then haven't really used them!

I was out there too. Tried in front of the reefs for about an hour and a half across the dawn for one undersize squire and a knot eel. Then went up the river but I guess the fresh has pushed the prawns out as I only got about a dozen from all the usual places. Tried a few locations for bream but could only find about five of which only one was legal. Wasn't too surprised as the tides weren't right for breaming. Went looking for a flathead around the Houghton Highway pylons using live herring, but couldn't give one away. Least productive trip for a long time. OH well - there's always tomorow
