    Certate Bail trip Issue

    Hi,

Just bought a second hand certate 2000 to go with my 4-8lb Luvias rod.
I have found that if I flip the bail arm over and then wind quickly it jut snaps back as it should. If I wind slowly it only flips half way and won't lay the line. Wouldn't want that to happen in the dark!

Any suggestions on how to remedy?

I am a bit concerned about pulling the reel apart because of posts I have read saying that the certate is hard to put back together. I do not regularly pull reels apart (but have done so with abu overheads and older threadlines), so I may be up to it.

    Any thoughts?

Mate, I would take into a Daiwa dealer and get em to send it away if they reckon it needs it. From what I've heard Certate's aren't something you want to play with unless you have all the right tools, that's something Daiwa does.

I second what black sheep said. It will probably not cost a lot at all and you'll get a factory service at the same time - maybe new drag washers.

Thanks guys - glad I didn't just take to it with a screw driver.

Is the problem simply that your winding slowly? I always flip by hand but just checked some of my reels (certates, hypers, exists etc) and none of them flipped over too well when done slowly, the best was the hyper. The S-extreme doesn't even have a bail flipper. If in doubt though, get it checked out.

    Hey Cam,
I just pulled my Certate 2500 down yesterday. The bail arm etc isnt that hard to service and put back together. I may be possible to fix the problem by just removing the side plates on the rotor and cleaning from there. You dont need special tools just a screw driver etc. Clean all the parts and regrease and it should be right. I am no expert on servicing reels and got through it no problems. Last time i sent a reel to Daiwa for a service i was $70 poorer for something i think i could of done myself.

    Cheers
