    Half and Half

Half a metre of flatty, and half a kilo of prawns

I woke up early and checked the weather - s#!+house of course, so I thought, "May as well go fishin" Nice and quiet down the pine, so I went to castle hill for some livies. There were a few prawns about so I kept throwing the net, eventually getting about half a kilo ( one at a time!!! ). Decided there was enough for bait and a BBQ lunch, and my arm was sore, so I started fishing.

I was quietly drifting down the pine and using the leccy to keep close to the bank.
I had live prawns on one rod, and was flickin chickens with the baitcaster. This unfortunate flathead got in the way of a cast, and I netted it one-handed. All the pressure was off now, as I had lunch in the bag, so I just kept drifting for another hour or so.

I got 3 bream to the boat on prawns, 1 was just a keeper and the others too small, so they all went back. Then got a decent sized bream on but dropped it at the side of the boat.

Was a nice morning, and the fishing gods were kind for a change.

That's all folks... I have to go and cook lunch now

    Hi guys,

I was on the pine this arvo trying for prawns. Went up just past the gateway overpass on the quarry side. Found a spot on the sounder and threw out - got 9 first cast. But then nothing - couldn't find them again.

I know it's a bit early still but were you operating around there or somewhere else in the river?

    Hopefully you don't mind sharing!

    Cheers,
    Mark

CASTLE HILL Mark, further up the river.

Nice to see you out there Justin, glad you got a bit of a feed too.
I was making it hard for myself with an 8' net with a hole in it and no top
pockets. My big net is getting repaired this week.

Nico - Smoked bream go OK? - Good to see you are searching new terrain.
Send me a PM with your number when you get a chance, I lost yours when
    I updated my phone.

mark, castle hill is about about a k further than the gateway overpass, you make a long sweeping rh turn then almost a 90 degree left hand turn, that turn is castle hill, be careful throwing your net around there as there are some big rocks that like to eat cast nets, have a sound around and you will find em pretty quick. cheers lethal

    Re: Half and Half

Went out this morning looking for some bait prawns. Rained for about the first hour and a half, but you get wet cast netting anyway. Tried a few spots from Castle Hill to Stinky Wall. Had to work hard for them, but managed about 2.5kg of mixed greasies and small bananas. Good to see the bananas staring to appear. After about 3 hours of casting my arms couldn't take any more so I gave it away about 9.00 a.m. Didn't bother to have a fish this time.
