Yesterday I was wishing I had one. So, I'm seriously thinking of adding one to the list of extras.
I have a 120 series V6 Prado. Can anyone suggest a decent brand and your reasons why.
Regards,
Wags

basically two main choices, airtek and safari.
tjm has one, arb the other
safari probably looks the best imo. both will do the same job though.

Lippa, I had those two in mind. I suppose it all comes down to $$$ now. Unless someone has had major dramas with either.

Carbon Really Ain't Pollution.
I 've just got a Prado myself and am leaning towards the Airtec. It seems to hug the guard and A pillar a little better I think. It is $50 dearer

silly question but what good will the snorkel go on a V6 petrol? is the air intake below the ignition packs? I just dont know but interested
regards
Craig
thanks - I'm not going to argue ....but I reckon you would need to find a precise dyno to measure the difference in performance between a less than 1 degree difference in air charge temp on a standard petrol engine - maybe there is greater air temp difference then I think but with airflow around the front of the vehicle (at cruise speed) being ~30 M per second I'm not too sure how much hotter the air would be at the inner guard as opposed to being at the roofline? maybe someone can explain to me as I dont have any experience with snorkels on petrol vehicles
cheers - Craig
performance difference is marginal.
like i said, very dirty air gets thrown up under the vechile, especially travelling on unsealed roads. elements can block in less than 200 k's.
with the snorkel, less dust is entered into the air intake system. so less downtime is required when doing that trip of a life time.
hell, some even think they look cool, others reakon it will increase resale value!!
any reasons why not to fit a snorkel to a petrol engine clee?
cheers
lippa
thanks lippa, thats makes sense and appreciate that, i cant see any reason why you wouldnt fit a snorkel to a petrol engine apart from cost, appearance and potential induction noise at the drivers ear but your point on cleaner air makes sense
cheers - Craig
induction noise is the main issue for me aswell clee, thats the only reason i didnt put one on my petrol 120, i have a diesel 120 now, and seriously considering it, they say it does give the diesel extra performance, but i'm with you there, it would only be miniscule.
cheers
