    Mackay fishing

Hi all I am heading to Mackay for 3 weeks for work, staying at Blacks beach, is it worth taking a fishing rod if so, what type, and where to fish and what sort of fish can you get. Is it also worth going on a charter if so is there any good ones?

There are heaps of rocky headlands around Mackay. Mackeral and trout can be caught from the Harbour wall. Bread and butter species like big whiting, flatties even GT's are prevalent.

My advice, pack all of your rods. Its a very diverse area.

    Good luck

You can catch fish on the beach at blacks beach near the rocks or walk down the beach to the creek. and yes a couple of good charters
