What new fangled device have you fallen for?

OK, time to fess up. Im a sucker when it comes to buying fishing gear. Anything new with half an ounce of scientific claim behind it and Im into it.

I bought the UV spray for lures cos it said its used by all the tournament fishos in the US. they backed it up with lots of labs test results. Yeah, right......... pity the fish arent into it.

I tried all the scents, and Im still not sure if they work or send the fish away.

I bought the Doug Hannon plastic snake lure from the US, and I still reckon I'll get a big one on it if I try hard enough. Anyone seen his videos on his website?

Once there was an ad for a mechanical lure that was battery powered and imitated a moving livie. I wanted to buy it, but I lost the ad that i cutout from a mag. Anyone seen them?

And of course, dont forget that we have to have every new lure that comes out, just to use once and say that didnt work.......couldnt have been me or the way I was fishing it........

What sucker stuff have you spent money on, just to find its a waste?

    cheers
    Andrew

Well, I wouldn't say I've fallen for it as I can't afford to buy one but if I had the dough I would most certainly buy a BIOSONIX unit from the States

    http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpage-BXSFA.html

I reckon it would work on Bass and Barra as is and apparently you can record and program them for othere species of fish. Hey, if plungers popped on the suface for Barra or the kiss-like slurp of a small popper can make Bream get wound up thinking their mates are on to something then why would one of these work.

Obviously I would need to have a bunch of spare cash because there are a ton of things in front of this but I'd be most interested to see how it goes over here.

Yep, bought the same lures. Have had mixed success with bass on them. But don't they look great on the water...

I bought some chemically sharpened hooks 20 yrs ago.

    Around the same time I bought one of those electronic depth sounders. Had a paper one before that, {30 yrs ago}

Dam sounds like a Shark attracting device ................... Here's one for ya's grab a plastic water bottle and make sure it's empty put it under the water and crack in scrunch it up imitates a crayfish tail snap and see how many sharks it brings in ........... Couple fisheries guys told me this trick

They really do look so lifelike on the water. Ive had big jacks swirl around and take a swipe at em too. I think the worm hook was buried too deep for a hookup tho. they remind me of the frog lures with a similar action.

Those Biosonix look awesome too. Lucky the missus has me on a budget or Id get one of them too. I told you I like gadgets......

might be a difference in where we fish. I don't usually have problems with sharks at Bass and Barra dams.

Re: What new fangled device have you fallen for?

snake would be good if it worked at depth.
with a smaller head it could imitate a worm, many fish would hit it.
As for Bass, I notice these guys are catching Bass 6 lb and upwards, larger species, more likely to hit a snake.

    cheers
