Saftey at beecroft currarong

Hi im heading to currarong for the first time to do some land based game fishing. I mainly use light gear 3-15kg, 3kg for spinning salmon, bonito and frigate mackeral etc. 15kg gear is for live baiting tuna and kingfish but i prefer 10kg for this.
My main question is the acess to landing fish on the rock platforms. I use a 4mtr fixed gaff with an attachment on other end for a flying gaff for heavier stuff . will this be ok or are the ledges much higher from the water. My second question is saftey on these platforms. I'm from merimbula and spent most my life fishing Tura heads and greencape, when i can aford to get down there, are the platforms at currarong more treturious than these? if so what swell should be avoided ie. north, n/e, easterly and size

P.S. good job on all who helped out on the clean up at the head land, i just read the thead before posting this . some times I used to bring back more rubish than fish from tura heads . I really dont understand why people would deface such a beautiful place

3 kg for spinning up bait forget it used to use 20lb to spin for livies and on the right day "'IF'" you got the frigate past the yellowfin and odd little black the kingies just demolished you around the ledge.Mate great place to fish brings back plenty of great memories late 70s earley 80s.Used to go to Greenwell pt get yakkas for standby can catch them if your there well before daylight.
Any swell from the south to noreast has to watched as big non breaking rollers can catch you out .Navy cut off vehicle access years ago dont know if is still the same .Used to watch the old skyhawks bombing about 5-6 klms away interesting site.Enjoy it it has more variety than Greencape some nice snapper at dawn and dusk and dont forget spare line spooled many times over the years

Bro, check out sportfishextreme.com Its a LBG forum and most of the boys fish either the tubes or beecroft on a regular basis. Getting to much info is like trying to squeeze blood from a stone but you'll get alot of safety tips and you might even find a few boys to fish with. You never know when you'll need a gaffman at some of those ledges. The black marlin run is (should be) in its peak.

3kg is wayy too light for tailor and salmon. I was using 20 lb on a recent trip which i was starting to think was a bit too light with the size of tailor that were coming through. Lifting them is the hardest part. And its very hard to gaff a small fish in the wash. Just my thoughts.

Good luck down in jervis. i'd certainly love to do that one day.

4m fixed gaff might pass, but would prefer a 5-6m. Dont even bother with a flying gaff, too bloody awkward to use...and you need a solid 5m pole to place the thing in the first instance. Not quite time for the small blacks yet, another month or two yet. But the Kingies should be there, as well as the odd Wahoo.....though they are rarely captured as they usually chop through mono leaders real quick.

The only thing you can expect to catch on 2-3kg line is yakkas and frigates.....and only before the sun gets up. Make sure you have an inflatable wading pool to keep em alive (the gun bait off those ledges). If you are after Tailor and Salmon I would be using 6kg spin gear....too far to the water to try to gaff them, so you need to be able to lift them. Be very careful of the sea conditions.....if it is forecast to be 3m + from the S SE....it can get a bit ordinary......and if you go in .....there is no way out. (I thought the NSW Parks and Wildlife Service had closed Beecroft to fishing) I am speaking from having spent most of my years from 18yo to 35yo fishing that area. ( i am 50 now).
