Hey well done Jeremy! Thanks for doing the hard yards and giving us a few tips for the bash.....pretty good reward for you work...nice big toga
cheers steve
Did a bit of a pre bash fish to check out how well they are chewing. Well the wind got up pretty early which did not agree with the toga. Did not sight a single cruising fish all day and the surface activity was reserved for turtles and boney bream only. Worked a rocky face with jackells for a 2inch bass. Moved out into the basin looking for schooled up fish. Found the usual scattered schools, but could not convince them to chew. Dad missed a good hit bottom hopping a tn50 but no joy was had from these fish for the rest of the bay. When fishing for these bass i heard a good slap under a grevilia near by, leccied over made the cast, doh braid moment. Told dad to wack one in there with a light plastic and after a couple of hops a 420 toga hooks up and makes it to the boat. Moved into Kingaham arm and tried to see if the grevilia pattern would hold, again no joy. Bashed a few trees with spinnerbaits counted into the thermocline, again no joy. So with all our usual morning strategies failing we changed tact again. I tied on a sx48 and started working the deeper banks in the warmer water. First cast and the rod loads up, some line comes off and after a bit of thrashing around in comes another toga this time going 730. Few sweet relief. We carry on fishing similar bank for one more dropped fish of similar size. The weather changed again and we moved back out into the basin looking for bass. We called it a day at about 1:30 when the heavens opened up. Other interesting occurances included several mobs of deer and a 5ft brown snake deciding to swim accross the lake.
Couple of pics for chemy

good bit of recon work jeremy, nice toga, there have been some good reports of late, lets hope they keep it up till march, seems to be more toga than bass at the moment.....
well done...
deano..
God put me on earth to accomplisha certain number of things, right now i am so far behindi will never die.
Nice fish Jeremy and I am looking forward to getting up there next month
I liked the deer photo, there is always one "black deer" in every family!

The bass do seem scarce at the moment but a month and a bit is still a long time and they could come back on the chew for the bash, fingers crossed. Plenty of deer at borumba, the bash is early in the rut so morning sessions in the sticks will be to the chorus of red deer roaring.
p.s If anyone knows anyone with land up there can you ask them if i can hunt on it.
I believe we are taking my car and boat....which would make me the skipper.......... which would mean that Jeremy is not allowed to make a cast until i have one in the boat.
Which on my recent form would suggest that he might not get too much fishing time....
Advance warning should i be out fished by my side kick (very likely) Jeremy may need a lift back to Brisbane...
But then again like i always say “the pleasures in the seeking as much as the catching....”
JIM
A day in 'the office' hey Jeremy?.......
he'll let me drive he reckons......
........let me drive my own boat....... maybe i'll let him make the repayments....
i wanted to say something tough like " in my OFFICE im the boss......"
....but deep down i know i have a lot to learn from Jeremy and would like his help to break my Mondy Duck - im currently on a pair.
so i'll try not to pi$$ him off too much...
