So Qld has ended its Twenty 20 campaign for the 08/09 season, and the Victorians march on to the final against the Blues. There was another game being played this evening, Round 1 of the 2009 Ting Challenge Cup, and down at the Nerang Fishing Grounds for a summary of the evening’s play, is Tony Greig…
Yeeessss wellll, thank you Ritcheee! It was an extraordinary evening here today at the NFG with Team T openers T1 & TIMOR2 putting on a marrrvellous display, one that even surprised them! The opposition had no answer as they bagged 48 boundaries for the evening!
The evening began sluggishly with a delay in the start of play by ½ an hour as they chatted to the 2 batsmen from Team Jack at the gates who proudly displayed their Manns 20 willows that accounted for their 2 red boundaries. This was nothing more than idle chit chat and I’m sure they’ll be fined for delaying the start of play. They eventually strolled to the middle of the ground in somewhat muggy conditions – I’m not sure what T1 was thinking but it wasn’t long before he banished his canary yellow jumper back to the rooms – really, silly, stuff indeed Ritchieeee!
Both openers struggled to find any sort of rhythm early from the Chambers End and after a few pitch adjustments, finally began bagging some boundaries! They had 5 on the board when the menacing Feesch Brothers (Kat & Todd), who had terrorised many batsmen over the past few months, were introduced into the attack! After both openers faced ½ a dozen very ugly deliveries, a mid pitch discussion ensued and the batsmen decided to attack from the Bartinon End. This had almost instantaneous success with both openers bagging boundaries! T2 revelled in the conditions and scooted away bagging 4 or 5 boundaries through mid off in quick succession while T1 took some time to find his feet dispatching singles around the ground. Eventually T1 joined in the procession and began contributing towards the score finding wide gaps through mid on. The hook shot was used by both batsmen on occasion’s and resulted in several solid boundaries! In what was an extremely productive 4 hour session, they bagged 41 boundaries to leave the opposition dizzy, at times scoring at will!
Captain Daylight finally had the scheets with proceedings and introduced Barry Brim & Rahbish Binni into the attack, and they did a magnificent job for their captain in the last 1 & a half hours play to restrict the batsmen to 2 shy of their 50 partnership! I spoke with top scorer T2 a few moments ago and this is what he had to say:
“Yeah, it was an awesome session out there and we’re a bit disappointed in falling 2 shy of our 50 as we dug deep and tried hard for that last session of play, but Binni & Brim in particular bowled a pretty tight line. But we’re very satisfied nonetheless with our effort!”
“You looked like you were enjoying yourselves out there and you seemed to complement each other with the way you organised and executed your game plan?”
“yeah, we had a ball, T1 was like a pig in mud out there but it seems that with every game, we’re forming a pretty good partnership!”
“I noticed T1 kept you on your toes with several cracking thuds through the covers! Did they worry you at all?”
“Nah mate, fortunately I wasn’t standing downwind so I wasn’t bothered by those thuds at all.”
“Yeesssss, welllll fortunately you weren’t downwind otherwise things might have been a bit haaaarsh! Thanks T2 and good luck in the next game!”
Welllll, there you have it Ritchieeeee, a very happy T2! Just some stats for you, top scorer was T2 with 25 and a fast finishing T1 with 23. The shortest boundary was 240mm with the longest bagged 350mm, and a very even spread in between.
Wellll, that’s all from me here Ritchieeee in what has been a very entertaining evening’s play, now if i could only find my keys, i'd be able to go home! Back to you in the Central Mish, I mean Central Commentary Position.
Yes, thank you very much Tony Greig, down there live at the NFG. That’s it from us here, we look forward to your company in about 6 weeks for Round 2 of the Ting Challenge Cup. For now, it’s goodbye!

Hey T, very funny read & well done on the fish. Make me feel like having a shot myself but a little too far for me. About time you did a post thought you had the shits with this site along with another couple of regulars who used to be really active with their storys & advice, Peter.

great catch Guys,Very good write up looking forward to next post
BARUP, Pete, you don't have to look far to see why some don't post anymore... Some are too busy, can't be bothered, or don't have much to report... It's a combination of all of the above for me.
Thanks for the comments mate!
Take Care T
Might have got your 1/2 century if you used the TMSK.
