Ferry Service - Cooloola North Service

Heading over to the North Shore for a spot of camping and fishing over the long week end, does anyone know of the ferry times for saturday morning 24/1/2009. Trying to find out the start times to get up the beach prior to high tide in the morning.

    Have a great weeke end.

5.30 every day actually, but I'd expect there will be a fair few arrive early to be at the front of the line. Think you'll find it a bit of a slog to the camping area on that tide AS.

Beach is good, water clean and a few whiting, dart, flathead and tarwhine about. Found a few choppers yesterday also. Birds are working just offshore along most of Teewah Beach and conditions are finally allowing us a crack at it.

Slider thanks for the update, do you think that the ferry crew will be putting any early trips on due to the long weekend. Does Cliff still run the ferries or has he sold the business.

I would like to get up there early to get a decent spot, I normally head up about the 32 to 35 K's up from the cutting.

Normal start time on saturday AS, but if there is a line up, then 2 ferries will be operating. I'll hear you all going past Teewah.

Cliff, Tom and June have recently been awarded the contract to run the ferry for another 10 years. Was originally 2 other tenders, both of whom pulled out of the tendering process several months ago. Petrac, the owners of the Noosa North Shore Resort and High Tide Hotel and developers of 'Beach Road' were one of those, but their being placed under administration put an end to that. The other firm pulled out due to the cost of new ferries and uncertainty over the affect of beach permits on ferry crossings.

Has been a steady stream of vehicles heading up to the camping area the last 2 days so prime positions will be hard to come by.

We've had a couple of inches of rain this morning which could mean the 2nd and 3rd cuts will have a (shallowish) lake to be crossed to get to the beach if the creeks don't break through the beach to drain them. The water that has been trapped there since the last full moon tides is salty and will still have a salt content. 1st cut will be firm after the rain anyway.

Hi Slider, Ended up camping on top of each other up the beach. I must admit I wasn't expecting the big crowds, but it has been nearly 10years since I wa last up there. it was still a good trip neither the least. A lot more people than I have ever seen up there. Some hobbo's that tended to ruin it for others. Maybe the boys in blue need to get hold of thermal imagineing for night time to catch a few more doing stupid things on the beach. I nearly got hit fishing at night by a car. Had lights on with reflective clothing. Went back to the camp site then to have a few heart settlers. But we will be back, in the near future.
