Ok headed out to the four beacons with my neighbours this morning, the bay was glassy smooth yet there were no fish? For bait we used pillies and squid, had a few good runs on the heavier gear but no hook ups we were assuming a Dolphin because there were about 30 all grouped together. The question is where does the bait hold there as we only got 1 Slimy mackeral then a few grinners. We were chasing Cobia or even a mackeral if one comes through. Where is a few other spots to try for Cobia and mackeral
I was out there too Tailoboi99. I fished the Woody Point reefs early for a couple of legal squire (and about 10 undersize ones) and then ran across past Mud to the sandhills, then up to the 4 beacons looking for some pelagics. Conditions were perfect but there wasn't a fish or a bird to be seen. Shame really for such a great day!
Cheers Freeeedom
you beat me too it tom,it was dolphin for sure..was a great day on the water but like tom said and a few others no bloody fish...o well it was a pure pleasure being out there dangeling a bait...tom i hope you enjoyed the trip mate and il tell ya there not gunna beat us that easy,we will be back time and time again...did anyone get anything?i heard one bloke got a 89cm spaniard at mud early this morning..seen the pic and it was a spaniard forsure..buggered if i know,i guess thats what keeps us going back for more..its more like wishing than fishing lol..
Definitely a dolphin, thanks to tangalooma 'wild' dolphin resort the dolphins think that any food that comes from a human is for them, we have even had them take mackerel off of our hooks.
Btw bad luck on the poor day, we bagged out on spotties today
PS. In general I have always found that dolphins mean the fish are too scared to move.
