    Whiting

I have just joined. My name is Tony 69 yrs keen fisho - Based Sydney - I lodged a thread under General category yesterday instead of saltwater category. I fished the rising tide inside the bay yesterday to 3/4 tide. Best fresh bait nippers, bloodworms and soldier crabs - size 6 hook - long leader with pink ball / sleeve Very windy conditions - could n ot bet a strike yet surrounded by stud whiting - any suggestions for me to hook up these monsters Thanks Tony

If they are there they should take those baits ! The wind may have played a factor in the lack of bites if it was blowing too hard. Have another crack when the wind dies down. You could also try a bit of burley. I will often use my yabbie pump to stir up a bit of sand to get them a bit more interested. I have even pumped a spot a few times then dropped a bait into where i was pumping then free spooled as i move away keeping my bait in the same spot. Most times i get a hit within a minute or two. works well when things are slow. You could also try without any weight, bead and tubing, just leader and hook to see if that get a hit. Works when they are a bit shy. Good luck.

Yeah as Scott said you should try without the bead and sinker. Try using fresh peeled prawns aswell they really work for me. Tell us how you go. Welcome to the site aswell

Hi Tony, sounds like your doing most things right but here is a couple of things that might help, the first is line size no more than 6lb but 4lb if your sporting.

The other thing that will help especially with the bigger whiting is flurocarbon leader, this can make a big difference to your whiting fishing. cheers wayne.
