I was reading on this site a while back about someone who made their own by making a mould out of plaster of paras and injecting silicon into it.

Do a search I'm sure you'll find it.

    G'day mate!

A tough proposition, but not many bucks saved? Do you have some new designs, or are you just into the "making"?

I cut, carve and sand some jewie lures that I use. Cost is $4 per lure as opposed to $12-20 for a bought lure.

Is what you are doing worth it?

    Regards, Rob.

If you want to play with making plastics then I would put an order through one of the US mobs as you need a lot of other aditives to make the plastisol come out right. It is not cheap to import this stuff though

Ther is a bloke over redcliffe way that specialises in various casting resins and polimers.

A lot of people who make faicial models, fake body bits for maguc tricks, prostetics and sex toys go to him.

I would take me some phone calls to find him, but he would be the go... or he would know.

I have books and stuff that mention kits and stuff for making soft plastic lures from back in the seventies but have heard nothing on the open market since.

With the mentions of using lolly snakes instead of commercial SP.

Have toy thaught of using culinary resins and gums, like would be in used in manufacture of sweets.

gelatine, guar gum and the like.....would be reasonably cheap in quantity and redily available.

I am sure some gum flavoured with fish oil and some food colouring would work.... and it would be biodegradable.......don't know adout the shelf life though.

    cheers
Its the details, those little details, that make the difference.

thanks for the feed back guys
I really like to get hold of some plastisol as the lures I want to make require a dipping process very similar to making candles
thanks yalta for the info will make a call see if they can help
