Always liked the old Cruise Craft reef rangers, dont know why and also the Bertram 23s, also a soft spot for the big early signature 22 footers, folks had one with a 200 black anchor on the back,

Just wondering what boats are you comparing the 625 and 685 to???

Cruise craft build a fantastic boat! They look great , are fitted out very very nicely and are very stable at rest and have large cabins for the size! But it's these last 2 features that make them pound like very few boats can in anything but ideal conditions. I have never heard anyone say a 685 is a great riding boat ( including many owners of them) So back to the original question, what are you comparing them with? As what ever they are i never ever ever ever want to ride in one of those!!!!!!!

    G'day Craig,

The new Cruisecraft hulls give an excellent ride, the older ones didn't.
The older hulls (talking 580 outsider / 570 explorer) were very seaworthy and very stable but quite harsh and "bangy" in their ride comfort - especially if you came off a wave and landed on the shoulder.

When I tested the 580 Outsider and the Seafarer Victory 5.9 they were chalk and cheese.
They Cruisecraft was nice if you backed right off in speed (15 knots), whereas the Seafarer Victory could maintain a lot higher speed (estimated 20 - 22 knots)with comfort.

I was originally intending to buy the Cruisecraft, but my mind was changed instantly when I drove the Seafarer.

I have a lot of respect for Cruisecraft and I really like their boats.
They are a great hull for seaworthiness, stability and very predictable to drive - just harsh riding.

I don't know whether your hull is from the same mould or not.

Ian, You are completely correct - they are a classic.
I didn't think to mention mention the 5.2 Kevlacat.
Anyway - I can't mention it or Deano will think I am going soft!

    Cheers

    Pete

Love my Yalta Odessa 2000. Think they are made from an old Hains mould. She tracks straight in a following sea and feels solid.
