Thread: Fisher Boat Thru Hull Transducer

Question Fisher Boat Thru Hull Transducer

Looking to retro-fit a thru hull transducer to a fisher boat. I know that fisher boats have started to fit there boats with a transom modification that allows it to be fitted in the centre on the back of the boat without problems with water disturbance i would really appreciate it if some one who has had this done to there boat would mind taking a few snap shots so i can see how they have modified the bottom of the hull to make it work.

    Thanks,

Gees, a trim tab without the trim!

You could fit one on each side as well and hang all sorts of gear on em. Neat!

    What could go wrong.......................

If you do fit it there make it as short as possible, as it decreases setback to the outboard leg, would only become apparent at high speed though...or not depending on how fast they can actually go being a fishing boat first.

    cheers fnq

    FNQ,
What do you mean? I can trim in all the way. The Fisher transom is not vertical.
The last section of the keel flattens out to a planing plank. That allows the transducer tab to be fitted as shown. How fast? 35-37 knots with a 175 depending on load.
Are there any more questions, comments, suggestions or other advice?
    ROLL TIDE, ROLL.................

Jet - I have the thru-hull on my Fisher. To retro fit one the same as mine you would be looking at a lot of work. I am away from home atm but I can send you some pics via email rather than post them.

The thru hull runs between the ballast tubes in a fully welded (bar the top) cylindrical housing. I am running a plastic 600w transducer. The picture is faultless at all speeds and I only get some clutter in choppy conditions with a bit of air under her.

    Cheers

Mate sorry for hurting your sensibilities I though all transom's where vertical and yeah your boat does fly and all with only 175hp to pushing it.

Fastest my 6.1m overall boat has travelled on the water with it's 90hp 3cyl yam was 36kn, will do some transom angle work and see what happens...thanks for the heads up.

    cheers fnq

    FNQ,
My sensibilities are fine. You seem to know all about Fishers..............you must have one too.

If you don't have one............................................... .....................

Yeah you are right Peter, I don't own a fisher so they are just another boat to me along with with all of the rules that govern any boat when applicable, a sticker cannot change the laws of physics.

    cheers fnq

So you doubt my figures re boat speed but quite happily claim that your 90 ponies push your 6.1M hull to 36 knots. So you want to give everyone a lesson in Fluid Dynamics? Go for it.

BTW, the OP wanted to know about fitting a through hull ducer to the transom of his Fisher. Good to see that you have kept the thread on track.

That's just making things up, I don't doubt your boat speed in any way, it's entirely average or even a little under.

My first post was about the ducer and it was correct too, may or may not apply either, depending on this owners setup and useage, the idea is not new, it's been around for a long time as the position makes simple sense ......depending on the application, what was your point? outside of overt brand defensiveness.

    cheers fnq

PS Yeah and it's one of the slowest 90s ever built!

Re: Fisher Boat Thru Hull Transducer

Thanks greg and pete for your photos! Ideally it would be great to set it up between the tubes but lookes like a mission to do as retro-fit looking at the bottom of gregp,s boat it is flat as far as the photo shows, but my fisher has the flat section with a support piece running down the middle looks like half circle fully welded both sides i am wondering if that has been removed on your boat greg or if it does not run the full lenth i am concerened that if i set it up like peterbo 3 has done to his i will still have to much turbulance and face the same problems with interference. Peterbo3 does the bottom off you boat have the half pipe welded on or not? if so, is it performing for you? Thanks in advance for your info.
