And in my books and one detail really sticks out.

That detail is the secrecy in which Fisher moved.
There is still no excuse for not ringing or contacting the people who were having their boats built or people with deposits paid.
There are a few accounts of that happening just in this forum.
Saying it was hard to find the clients contact details is bollocks in my books.
If they can be contacted for money they can be contacted for courtesy to say Fisher has moved and what the go is.
If the people concerned had time and the inclination to consider moving, looking for new premises, signing a lease and packing up and moving then they should have had an inkling that they should print out a list of clients and then contact clients whether they be past, present or, possibly, future to tell them what the go is.
Common courtesy.... that's all that is and if the business has not got that little bit of common courtesy then heaven help them.
Hell, a sign on the gate of the old premises would have been a start but was one there?? Not by the sounds of things.
How hard would it have been to put a notice here saying that the move was happening??
The excuse that the phones were down and internet access was down is crap IMO. Everyone has a phone and most internet access at home.
Mobile phones even work pretty good now-a-days and some have internet access on them.
Having clients left out of the loop when any money's, let alone huge amounts of the stuff, are at stake is a huge mistake.
When I had my accident the first thing that come to mind was to (a) get to a doctor and when the outlook wasn't very good plan (b) had to go into action...I got a good friend to contact all my clients to let them know what the go was. All that happened overnight and everyone knew exactly what was happening. And because of that I reckon if I started again tomorrow I'd be pretty well in the same spot as I was 12 years ago client wise.

Word of mouth will have tongues wagging all over the place (not just here) talking of what the go is with Fisher, considering the apparent disappearance that happened virtually overnight,....and the type of wagging will hurt Fisher.
IMO Col cannot cop the full brunt of the troubles himself. A board of directors was there apparently and they ALL should be copping flak.

I reckon Mark is going to be one of the lucky ones in all this saga.
    He just lost his job.
All the best in finding a new one matey.

If it’s the opinion of the majority that I stop posting I will. As I really haven’t got the time.
You have however made a few good points Pinhead and I’m happy to hear your comment’s and views. So thank you!

But I’m only the messenger in all of this and have probably stuck my neck out a bit too far when giving out as much information as I can to the people requesting it, so please
To everyone involved watch where your shooting.

I’m not judging who’s Wright or wrong her and you really need to keep emotion far from the picture so if I’m sounding a little one sided by stating the fact’s I’m sorry.
Don’t forget I knew the old Col aswell.
Right now I’m trying to focus on the future rather than dwell on the past; maybe we all need to “get over it” as many already have!

At the end of the day I can still sleep well knowing I have done nothing wrong.
    Payney!
Ausfish may not be the 'backbone' of the industry, but how come those blokes with money tied up in boats heard about it here first?

guys were panicking in the first lot of threads on this subject, trying to get through to you guys, trying to get some info out of anyone on here that might know something.

threads were being closed, blokes were feeling sick in the guts - they have families etc and are throwing a lot of money at Fisher to receive a hard earned dream. the few weeks or so that your leaders kept them in the dark is pretty disgraceful.

not a shot at you mate - but where's the direction from above you - where's the customer service? it may take some time for future boat purchasers to regain this trust in Fisher when outlaying their hard earned...

    Sorry I stand corrected
If we could go back and do it all again I’m sure it would have been done a little different.
But when all the customers’ details including cash deposit details are in someone’s lap top, and they don’t wish to share that information for whatever reason, it’s a little difficult to contact owners before news gets out. These boats are being built for customers all over Australia.

I find it hard to believe one person held all the data on the customer base.

at the very least, there should be backups.
if a person ever stole 'someone's' laptop, or the hard drive failed - you're telling us that Fisher would have ground to a halt?

    wow

but I do agree with you that it could/should have been done differently - I guess lesson learned?

Crikey, most people look after even their downloaded porn better than that! It's unthinkable that a business wouldn't have at least 3 copies of that data with one stored offsite.

Now where did I say the business relied on 1 lap top?

I’m only referring to the latest customers who have paid a deposit , and haven’t been entered into the main frame (this should have been done we realize and wont happen again) all past and excising are now in the main computer and backed up!

All boat owners with the exception of 1 that have paid deposits ect have been contacted and been given an explanation, all are looking forward to ending on a good note!
The outstanding person will come to light soon.

    Re: fisher boats

Maybe they do, in theory, but, how often is it done??
Depending on the in and out flows of different businesses, once a week could be okish for one businesses but others will back up 3-4 or more times a day.

It is a far, far better thing to have fished and lost, than never to have fished at all.

I think this thread has been flogged to death.

It will be closed off for now and re-opened when news.. ( good or bad ) comes to light from those that have a vested interest.

    This is my decision.
