And yet he seemed to find the time when ever a new boat came off the line to post a few pics?

Really Dave i fail to understand your comments! Yes Col by all reports is a great bloke and also builds bloody good plate boats, he's also a sponsor who has built up a lot off good will with the members of this site. Surely he owes those members who have been very very very quick to recomend his boats to all those who ask about the pro's and con's of differant styles of alloy boats aleast some info as to whats going on!!! We are after all a community are we not?
I really hope Fisher boats come through this and thrive for ever and a day , running a small business is nothing but a constant battle against the unforeseen, wheather that be staffing issues or cash flow or yada yada yada etc. it never stops!!! Best of luck Col!

Ps.Dave, It's been over a week now i dont think the to busy to comment, wheather that comment is simply " Cant comment" is to much to ask at all!!!Support goes both ways!.
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!

Don't believe everything you hear, If fisher is building from another area then why have their workers gone to another plate Mob?????? Or is it the boats that have been ordered that are in build are being finished and then thats the end..... Not that i really care, i Wish all the owners the best if they have deposits down, and i really hope all goes well for them no matter what happens, as long as they get their boats.

    Ian

Ps. It's been over a week now.
Being a sponsor (Col) that's why he posts pics.

My comments are based on after the initial gutted feeling he has from this (as posted by another member) then he has to decide what his next move will be depending on how all this came about. If something can be resurrected I would assume there would be legal mumbo jumbo to deal with. Would be no point coming on here and saying anything till something concrete was bedded down would it not? Does he feel up to it?

But all this all depends on who or what has/was involved.]

A week is nothing when lawyers are involved.

And yes we are a community.

    Avast ye matey!

Bloody hell...if they want their customers to know what is happening then they will notify them. Other than that they don't have to do a thing if they do not feel the desire to.

    Re: fisher boats

With many boat builders closing down it indicates the marginal nature of low volume production and the vulnerabilities faced by not diversifying into fabrication or trading of other products. Not having the capacity to increase production in the good times, evidenced by the long waiting lists of smaller operations, limits the capacity to build a buffer to allow them to adjust and weather the tough times.

One positive aspect of the small, less complex businesses is that they do have the capacity to just shut down and startup later when the market picks up. I suppose as long as they retain their jigs and keep a bit of gear, with a leased shed and good name you can start building boats again. The difficulty will be to wrestle back market share from the survivors.

    Cheers

    Re: fisher boats

i finally found my boat and visited fishers new factory today. had a good talk with the silent partner and i can now sleep again knowing i have not lost 29k in payments. if it was not for a fellow member who contacted me before steve shut down another tread i would be a mess. fisher have not shut down but are trying very hard to pick up the pieces. fisher remain the leader in plate boats and soon will be back building great boats. those waiting to order be patient. one last thing there are always two sides to a story and i heard it today.

Speculation only comes about when there is no information, it's very easy to stop speculation ....... provide information!!!! Just like Daxbax73 has done
