not so sure all the hassles are worth it these days with our dollar being as low as it is, remember warranty is void (in case something goes wrong) and GSt and other odds and ends come into play as well.

Right now there is not a lot to be saved ..... unless you are buying top end gear .... (example a $500 Daiwa Zillion ...... you might land it for $420 from the states.)
Honestly ..... with the shipping & as mentioned Warranty - I wouldn't buy till the $A gets to the high 70s.

I think that if the Dollar is below .70 then the item needs to be below half Aus price to break even and at that it is not worth the possible dramas, but when it was way up near parity, then some bargains were had, especially in big ticket items like Boats and stuff, especially second hand Boats, they cannot give them away at the moment, but untill we get some better $ rates, then you can forget it!

Hi cato i have purchased many shimano reels from the us mainly from ebay some real bargains pop up from time to time so keep an eye out . Even with the weak dollar you can still get some good deals if you do your homework just watch out for some guys who are trying to overcharge for shipping.

    Hi cato,
Shipping on a reel from the US should be around US $25.00. I have found ebay to be good as well.

Re: shimano fishing gear from america

I purchses a Loomis (US$ America) and Fireblood(US$ Singapore)when the doller was 98 cent, saved hundreds with shipping included i still was paying less than 2 thirds AU prices.

watch Ebay I got burnt bad, I paid 165 dollars for a 2500 fireblood spool and a few months later the same spool goes for around 75 dollars.

    cheers
