Heading to caloundra for a week tomorrow and I have a couple of questions
What is the bar like? Is it Navicable?
Is there anything happening off the coffee rock ledges around the front of Bribie? Any starter marks around?
Any other info for either off shore or esturary would be great. I've not fished the waters off Golden Beach so any info on Bribie passage would help too
I haven't crossed the bar for 6 months, so this info may not be of much use but anyway.
The main channel is usually hard up against the Bribie side as is 3-4m deep after you leave the last red channel marker. Follow this for about 100-200m until it starts to shallow up, and from there pick the best channel you can find. Usually ESE direction. Can be a bit shallow on the low tide, but otherwise good, and I haven't had any problems with pressure waves on this bar either.
I can give you some starter marks for the coffee rock outside the bar, and a few other marks for the inshore grounds if you want.
plenty of swell on it at the moment. there's not much of a channel. less then1m on low. i shot out at 4 this morning and copped quite a few. i hit bottom quite a few times in the last couple of weeks as well. she's not very user friendly at the moment. i work out of there most morning and usually cross it in the dark but with the tide and swell at the moment abit commoncense will go a long way. i can give you the marks for the track i am running at the moment if you like
