i know everyone is saying how these jet skies do like 100KM/r but in reality who is actually doing those speeds and where? must be a lot of unreported accidents out there? surely its unsafe at those speeds accept where water is nice and smooth.

Just depends on the conditions just like a outboard you can change your prop , we can also change the intake grate , prop, sponsons and ride plate so it can hook up and handle certain conditions .
If you have a HP ski it dont matter about it as it still trolls nicely its only when your into it then it uses more fuel but just putting around not a prob at all we have a 1000 cc ski and a 1800 cc ski buth do the same . I pref to fish with them than use the 4mtr tinny 30 hp we also got . Seen a few around the pin of late jetski fishing as i said b4 at least we can get out through a bar a bit safer then a boat . But dont matter plenty of fish out there for all![]()
yeah i suppose. i don't like going any faster than about 20 knots anyway in anything on the water.
Can fully understand that but when u try a jetski they ride very different to a boat and you do have to play with the trim to get a good ride .
I have been out front of the seaway heading to tweed and easy sat on 95 km was a nice day just set cruise control haha yes it has that also and water temp gauge so life is getting easy . lol
yeah, its the sudden stop that worries me
i do fully understand what your saying though. i see them come up the seaway at speeds short burst speeds that are surely around the 90K plus mark.
its that sudden swell or rouge swell/wave that appears out of no where that concerns me![]()
hahaha yes but as i say to all ride the conditions that you feel safe with just like a boat . The new hull designs of the new 4 stroke ski`s are very good and prob free . Fishing setups you can buy from ebay or see Daytona motorsport on the Gold Coast they run at $650 but if you can weld stainless and have a bender can do it for nics , only thing i havent worked out is carrying crab pots on it but will get around that .![]()
Nah just a little jack of seeing " those " irresponsible jet skiers hoon up and down Cockle Creek at the northen end of Lake Macquarie where boaties launch and retrieve from and see people struggle when the wake/wash from a jet ski flies by in a restricted speed zone.
I witnessed one poor fella once get squeezed right up between his boat and trailer as a result,so like i say not all jet skiers i'm sure but some and the point of the post was if they are the legal distance then they have nothing to worry about as i sure as shite cannot cast that far.
Now for my lolly please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Regards
Steve

Seen a couple of blokes on a Jetski checking their pots and having a fish up this way eairlier in the year in one of our croc infested creeks. Puts a whole new light on the subject when you visualise that 15 ft croc eyeing off that easy accessable snack pack bobbing around in the creek. I have actually had the same croc come to the surface next to the motor while trying to release a Barra from a lure. These blokes were in the same area. Definately not my cup of tea for the creeks around here. Down south would be great I would imagine.
Fishing! Its the way of life.
Southwind 6.70
Interesting idea for sure.
I like to watch youtube flicks with those blokes in the yaks, but i often think to myself, damn that looks fiddly with the limited space, sure be the same for the jetskiis.
Have fished of Yaks and jet ski's and both work but in no way ideal. You can't beat a boat for fishing, shit I have trouble fitting all my gear on a 30fter little own a ski. Yaks and ski's all scream shark bait to me.
Hi guys....i guess this thread would be closest to questions on an electric kontiki..another nz invention
its a motorised torpedo that takes your line out to sea..i know it sounds like cheating but its still fishing way
i cant find any reference to this kind of fishing on the dpi website
Now this is hard work thinks i would be using a boat![]()
thats a classical example of how we no longer have to live within constraints of thoughts of what might make a good fishing vessel. It would appear we can do anything in anything we want tooand do it successfully even if it does appear to be "extreme". good on him!
