Jetski Fishing what do you think?

Ha sounds crazzy but its big in South Africa and New Zealand soon to catch on here, just about to ditch the boat for a new four stroke Jetski.

With 60 liters for about 200 klms, speeds of upto 100klm an hour, I will be out on the water once again. I have some friends who do a full three sixty of morton, others who go out on the outside of the wave breaks and get a mighty haul of Taylor.

    Trawling for Yahoo and Spanish.

Ya ha call me mad but I am joining the Jetski fishing group ha ha

If it gets people in jetski's to be more considerate of fishermen, then I think it's a great idea

already been done quite popular in certain placeswith quite a few people doing it. about 5 years ago a good run of yellowfin 40-60kgs showed up on the 6 mile at bermagui for a few days. on one of the days out there we saw a guy on a jet ski hooked up to a good fin he had converted his jet ski into a motorised game chair. he landed the fish which wqas quite impressive. paul worstling and lee rayner from the tv series ifish also have caught sailfish many times off the back of seadoo jetskis in w.a

You can't beat Yak fishing that stuff is insane but I guess Jetski fishing would be similiar so you should have some fun. Tell us when you go out and get some fish on it.

My dictionary defines green as ‘unripe, immature, undeveloped'. Perfect description.

Most political parties are seen as interested in what the voters think, the Greens are seen as thinking the community should be interested in what they think.

There were two blokes on jetskis today off Point Lookout racing around after the birds...not sure how they went though.

One of our club members has been doing insane jetski fishing for years....leaving from his pontoon at scarbie and heading to hutchies and surrounds. Has pinned some huge spaniards and some blacks from it. Often meeting up with his old man on his game boat out there to grab a feed, drink and then carry on with his fishing. Some of you will know "Patto".

PS . I am seriously considering a jetski for getting to some of those narrow creeks that are a long way from the nearest ramp, with very shallow entrances....just trying to figure out how you would mount an electric on one of them.

Be a bit of a pig in small water wouldn't they? No steering unless youv'e got a reasonable speed on.

I remember there was a Dill the VMR Rescued last year or the year before going out wide fishing on one. Only he went a little to far and couldn't get back in. I think they charged him.

Re: Jetski Fishing what do you think?

Yeah, interesting approach isn't it, those SA and NZ'ers are darn innovative to say the least....
I'd love to give it a try, certainly easier to cross the local bar on one of these from what I've seen. The motors are pretty high-tec I think? That would be my only concern, compared to the old-tec 2 stroke tohy which doesn't need much to keep it reliable....
They aren't too $$$ 2nd hand either, wonder how you'd go mounting a sounder etc, do they drift or anchor up, or purely for trolling?
    Cheers.

People need to know that racing up to a school of birds working ( in mac season) whether it be in a boat or a jetski is bad etiquette. Those jetski guys/girls (9 times out of 10) will get there first. Makes me think I need a bigger outboard...

Re: Jetski Fishing what do you think?

There has to be a practical use for these infernal things.

I saw a bloke out the west of green fishing off a PWC about a month ago.

Not at all unreasobable.....would be good in the shallows.....if driven quietly they would probably be quite stealthy.

As for the lecky......yeh you could cut one down and link it to the steering.....it would only need to be a small one.

    cheers
Its the details, those little details, that make the difference.

Re: Jetski Fishing what do you think?

I actually considered it, before buying my boat. I think they could work quite well as a fishing vessel....
That said, I'm very happy having chosen a boat, as I can take my mates out for a fish, and even if the fishing sucks, it can still be an enjoyable day.
