Navman (C-Map) vs Garmin (Bluechart)
Hi All!
At the moment Im running a Furuno 1650F with C-Map NT, Ive been using this since 2000, but updated the maps in 2004. It works fine in my area of Port Philip Bay (Melbourne) and it has more detail compared to other charts I have used.
In particular, it shows the Patterson River and Patterson Lakes canals which is something I would like the new unit to do.
I have another smaller boat that I would like to buy a new combo for, but I would still like to have at least the same amount of info mentioned above.
I was wondering if any of our members would know the answers to the following:
1) does the Garmin with Bluechart G2 Vision show the above details and does it show underwater fishing reefs in Port Philip Bay? I tried calling Garmin but Im still waiting for one of their techs to call me back - if they do!
2) does the Navman (Northstar) 6507 with C-Map Max show the Patterson River and Patterson Lakes Canals?

Re: Navman (C-Map) vs Garmin (Bluechart)
Hi Again!
There doesnt seem to be any replies - no one from down this way?
Anyway I decided to go for the Eagle 502C DF iGPS in the end. I liked the internal antenna, speed sensor, dual frequency sonar and the price of course! At $699.00 its a pretty good deal for my purpose.
I bought a Navionics Melbourne chart, but unfortunately it seems that the Patterson Lakes canals are not accurately shown.
I know that the C-Map shows them accurately as I have seen that system running on another other boat.
Is there a way to make the Eagle run C-Maps? Is it a hardware slot problem or can the Eagle unit be changed with s/w that will let it use C-Map instead?
