A protest is a must if you love Moreton Bay !

    Moreton Bay is significant !

We need to protect it from run-off, over-development and progress.

For to long the recreational fisher person has been blamed for the depise of the bay being polluted with the Bligh aproval

The rec fisherman has been banned from parts of the Bay despite us loving the bay to dealth. The problem lies within us.

If Bligh wants to slap us in the face with bans, then lets challenge it

No science = A vote for the Greens

I want to see Moreton Bay for the use of everyone but not at the expence of our way of life for votes !

SOBA is the voice for rec fisherman in QLD, Sunfish may have the funding but we will never shy from the Reality !
These are my personal thoughts, for the good of the Moreton Bay SOBA is the way

I agree, how ever a protest without a solid basis of having the wider population knowing exactly what we are unhappy about, is largely a waste of time. Annoying the piss out of people in the city or where ever with out them actually knowing the full reasons behind it will do not much more than that - piss people off.

    Just my thoughts

    Cheers

That's where SOBA will inform the minority to our plight.

Yes we may piss people off but it is for a cause

    Damo.

EDIT: He's were we need your help Lovey80,

When you receive a call from rec fisherman to protect the bay I can count on you

It's something I will not give up, nor will my fellow Bay Lovers of the Bay

I hope you mean SOBA will inform the MAJORITY, because it is a minority that actually understands how screwed up this process is.

Only a thorough TV campaign or a saturation of Radio in peak hour traffic will achieve this. Does SOBA have the financial support to accomodate this?

If not pissing off people for a cause will be more detrimental to the cause and it will be a waste of time.

Can you count on me? Bloody oath you can! There is a caviate on that though...... I work oversea's and dont really get to dictate when I come home for leave so if something is on when I'm home ill let the boys know.

    Cheers

    Hi Chris,

SOBA are not flush with lots of cash by any shape or form, but we have a team focused on this task of raising funds now. We have a bank account underway, I am sorting an issue out with PayPal for donation payments as well. We are just about ready to start producing bumper stickers etc which we might be looking to re-coup costs plus a $ or two to go in the kitty as well as some other merchandise to help.

I agree in your comments but a campaign is underway. If we had some big injections of cash from donations or sponsors then that would help in a huge way and allow us to accelerate some of our plans.

    Stay safe over there mate.

    Cheers,

Just had a look at the SOBA website. I admire the effort that has gone into designing and posting the website and congratulate those involved. I also had a read to judge whether or not the website might be useful in a campain to "Save the bay". I only got through the text on the splash and half the the "Facts" page before I gave up trying to make sense of what's written. So I offer this feedback; when you are preaching to the converted, poor grammar and incomprehensible sentences will get by. If you are trying to take the message to the masses though the website, someone with a basic grasp of english needs to tidy up the text.

I acknowledge I have been pretty blunt but have a look at the text before trying to shoot the messenger.

    Chaz,

thank you for the feedback and it has been widely acknowledged that the existing website is not good. It is going through a major overhaul at the moment and will be published soon.

There will be an announcement as to its release made here and I welcome any comments made after that happens.

    Cheers.

Chris, thanks so much for your encouraging words. It's good to see there is a foundation to get the job done right being put in place. I just pitty I am not at home enough to give this project the full time and support it deserves. I would have thought a good idea would be to barrage every australian and overseas business that has a vested interest in recreational fishing in this country for sponsorship. Companies like Burkley, shimano, Daiwa and the outboard manufacturers (just to name a few) would be mad not to contribute heavily to SOBA considering a precedence set now could affect the rest of the countries marine parks and potentially other across the globe.

    Cheers

How does Captain Bligh plan to off-set the economical impact in this current enviroment given the $$$$$ rec fishing spends every year
