    Flat Dog Charters

Has anyone been out on Flat Dog Charters? I am heading up to Mooloolaba in a week. Also what gear does Flat Dof charters use?(ie. alveys, over heads, spin etc.). And can anyone recommend any other good charter operators out of this area?

Flat dog charters highly recommended. I went out with them back in August last year and got onto some good snaps out at the barwons. I think they supply alveys and all gear/bait etc but we took our own overheads. Skipper and deckie were great and very friendly and helpful. Prob only downfall was that they didnt provide any lunch but otherwise great trip. Dont know what they will be up to now though maybe trolling for pelagics as it is summer.

Alan Harvey who skippers Flat dog has been around the Sunshine Coast for a long time and knows the waters well. He will do his best to put you onto a fish or 2.

Biggest thing to keep in mind at this time of year is bottom fishing can be VERY tough!! Warm water and racing current can make life difficult and your chances of snapper and pearlies are far less than in winter.

I would suggest either be asking Alan if he has any days planned for game fishing.

OR i would have to say if you have 3 people or less you would be crazy not to give Smithy from here a call to see what he can offer you. His personalised charters are the way to go. You could do a bit of reef fishing or mackeral fishing in close early in the morning at the peak bite time then at 7.30-8am when the sun gets higher in the sky head out a bit further and have a shot at one of the many black marlin, sailfish, tuna, wahoo and mahi mahi that are around at the moment.

IMO that would be by far your best option.
