Markham Dominator Thru Hull Ducer

Hoping any members out there have fitted or had fitted a
thru hull transducer to their rigs.
Looking at fitting a Furuno 585 with either 600 or 1kw Ducer (budget?)
I can only see access as being thru one of the engine wells
and wanting to keep the hull water tight!!
Or am i better off going transom mount
Any info is appreciated

I noticed your question on thru hull transducers for your boat,a markham cat.I fitted a thru hull 600w transducer for a Furuno fcv 620 into my Raider Cat and it worked really well.
Not to be confused with the thru hull that is fitted via cutting a hole in the hull,my transducer sat in a liquid bath in the left hand sponson,at the rear of the boat and was accessed through a circular 150mm spin out.
I had previously fitted a Furuno FCV 620 to a Kevlacat 5.2 that i had owned and fitted the 600w tranducer on the rear transom.This arrangement did not work anywhere near as well as the through hull unit in the Raider Cat,where it worked at all speeds.

Thanks Hinchy my concerns with this particular cat is all the foam filled areas

and sealed floor.

Access is only via a port in the transom well which is screwed and sealed.

I ended up opting for a TM to test it on the extreme outer starboard side of transom

which left bugger all room for prop clearance which is specified but a

pleasant surpise when travelling at 30knots and full definition and detail

still intact (600watt).

When i get 1kw will place it in the same location for sure

To stop people getting confused the ones where you cut a hole are through hull ones and the ones mounted inside are shoot through. You can moint the standard transom ones as a shoot through by either using a epxoy paste with no airbubbles or in the water or mineral oil bath.

Nice to have them as shoot through as you get readings at all speeds but yu do lose a slight bit of power.

Transom ones are forever picking up debri and getting hammered or troden on by people getting over the transom so I prefer the shoot through and mount it down with the bilge pump as there is an area without foam generally.
