Just got thinking from my welsby light thread.... what;s the story behind the names of some of the beacons? I know they're named after someone influential to the bay in some way, but who actually knows the stories?
I know google will tell me but it'll be a bit more beneficial for all if it's done this way I believe
Welsby light, D'Arcy light, Coffee Pots, Hanlon light to name a few.
Naming of navigational aids occurs very rarely, and then only to honour those whose peers believe they are worthy of such recognition. This was one nomination that Maritime Safety Queensland was happy to support.
