    pots stolen, pine river

bastards be warned, if i catch ya.
    and i will.
shit heads got some of my good pots overnight. i'm pissed.

to the decent humans, keep an eye on ya gear down there, i was talkin to a bloke at the ramp, he had some go missing too.

and the the current didnt roll them up and take them down stream, tidal flow where my pots were would have been less than a 1/4 of a knot. in feeder drains, tide to trees.

Never had mine nicked but if I leave em overnight someone has always been in and emptied them and taken out the bait. bastards.

Why do so many people not care about others anymore?

Seems we are moving towards a sad society that only thinks about ones self.

Lippa your not the only one who has had pots taken from the Pine. I have lost two lots in the past three years. Not too bad considering that i have not had my boat in the water for two years of those three. I was even sitting near them one night when they got taken. Must have been someone in a very small tinnie, canoe or kayak??

well i know i ran over 2 pots on friday night in the pine. both were cut off, possibly yours?

Black floats are a No No at night!!!!

both were between dolhes rocks and deep water bend.

Theres also a pro thats using the deep water bend ramp and crabbing stony creek. wev observed him 3 times now checking pots that arnt his. and his also picked our ballons up while we fish off the bridge, thinking they were pots...

cant wait to get hold of that bloke Black tinny.... anyone knw him??

I assume a pot would show up on a sounder if it were cut off? Maybe its worth a troll around the area to see if it was cut off and may be still down there somewhere?

I notice the new reg state a "light-coloured surface float", hopefully most people will follow this advice (not saying yours are dark though lippa).

Lippa I hade some mates who went crabbing the other night and had their pots emptied. Silly season, always happens. Stealing pots is another thing though, perhaps its time we got a group together and did some stealth work and catch a few of these people out. I think some of those new camcorders work a treat with moonlight only.

If anyone has details on the pro then its time to call the DPI.

A couple of years ago Gary Howard mentioned in one of his articles in the local rag about a camo or dark painted boat that was checking pots locally. They worked at night with no nav lights and became very aggressive when approached. These sort of people are out ther and my mates and I have stopped crabbing around here for that reason..sad but true.

Had a pro crabber that was a client of mine and I asked him whether it was pros or amatures and he said that he'd drop his pots off and while he was working the next area he can see the lights of another pro working the pots he'd just dropped off. He said he had rammed their boats, jumped into their boats and punched them but they still do it. What a bunch of losers!!!
Take a photo if you can Lippa and post it.
    Cheers

    definatly not mine.
i use the correct surface floats for my pots.
oil bottles technically are illegal, no matter the colour. 15cm in any direction i beleive is the law.

were my pots were it would have been impossible for them to be run over. they were in small feeder drains. i have been collecting some info on the pricks. i have a fair idea who is responsible. 5 years ago. i just would have belted shit outa the culprits. bit older and wiser now. i will give all info to fisheries. hopefully they will get off their arse and do somthing.

that pro works from the brissy river to the passage i beleive. hits every system in between for a few days, then moves on. around a 3 week cycle then he starts agian. at 30 bucks a kilo atm, he would only need 15 or so crabs a day to make a decent earn.

    cheers

time to start sinking pots me thinks, i wont float them anymore unless i am sitting on top of em. sad these days but we cant change it. its a shame and a baseball bat might be the only option. as others have said time for a stealth operation. cheers Lee
