garmin g2 vision bluechart. worth it?

how ya doin fisho's?

i've just purchased a gramin 550 chartplotter and i was wondering if its worth it to buy the g2 vision card? does anyone have one of these cards? just after as much info on these cards as possible. i've blown my budget already but if i should get one i'll start saving now.

I guess im still in the learning phase with my garmin unit and the g2 visions charts capabilities and im not sure what your base map looks like but if u dont have the fishing charts on it id say the g2 vision is worth the money for that alone, the same with say having to buy a navionics chart to put in a lowrance unit its well worth the chart info.

As a side note ive found split screen between the navigation and mariners eye views to be handy when navigating in areas that i have not been before.

have got the same unit built in chart seems fine recently went too mission beach nq looked at buying chart old 420 bucks from memory or high 2s for abit of qld imo i think i dont need the extra for going around the islands etc

I have to agree with Dave, I'm very happy without the G2 card but if and when it comes with the new 'Green Zones', then I may get one.
Aren't they a great unit, very accurate and I'm very impressed after worrying about the purchase cost.

I'll also consider it if the zoning is available on it.

I'm impressed also with the accuracy of the charting, anytime I'm near a ledge, there it is right on the sounder

The GBRMP green zones are all on the G2 card. I have spoken to Garmin recently, they said that the Moreton Bay green zones will be available soon, simply a matter of downloading the upgrade onto your card. I have the card and love it, but haven't used my unit without it so cannot really say if it was worth it or not.

Hi Shane,

Are you talking about the G2 card or the G2 Vision card? The G2 is built into the Garmin.

I have just purchased a G2 Vision from the US for $280 and it will be here soon. Will let you know what it's like if you want?
