lake maroon , worth dragging the boat there ?

Going to lake maroon in a couple of weeks, is it worth dragging the boat there ? Just for fun not fishing at its a 6 family get together.

Not dragged the trailer more than 5km in the last year so I guess I need to check out the bearings etc.

I was there a week or two ago and caught about 30 fish in about 3 hours, the algae is very thick but it didnt seem to worry the fish too much.

It's been a couple of years since fishing it, but the Bass were easy to catch provided you follow the golden rules - fish light with about 4lb flurocarbon leader, and we found the Jackal brothers lures very effective.

Spinnerbaits and plastics also worked on the day, definitely worth dragging the boat up if you want to wet a line.

There's only one negative, the dam is little bigger than a bathtub so getting away from water skiers can prove challenging, with only a few areas you can do that. Amoung the timbers should be OK

Just came back from the area on thursday .Jackalls still do well ,any surface lure resembling a cicada had the bass raising .Flyes were unbearable tough.

Lake Maroon Holiday Park is very ordinary to say the least, the house is ok but the tent camping area is not much at all.

Had friends stay there last weekend. Said the flies and cow sh!t were unbearable.

The bank at the front of their camp site was lined with a foot of floating cow pats

Doesn't sound like its ideal up there atm.

Yup, we stay at the Pointro campsite. It was very basic and we have a few screamer wifes with us who are not fond of wildlife. The loos were names boy and girl zoo, and after day one they went a brought a bucket rather than go there again.

It was 38c in the day, with afternoon thunderstorms, but we only lost one tarp. Didn't take the boat, but did chuck a line in from the shore, but just weed and mossies.
