    Maroochydore Fishing Help

    Hey guys,
can anybody shed some light on some decent spots around maroochydore / sunny coast? We holiday there and mostly fish off a jety in the mouth of the maroochy river (we are land based only).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Mate, a popular spot remains the Cod hole, which is an area around the Maroochy Motorway bridge.
Ask any local where Swan's boat hire is. That is basically the Cod hole. There is some really good fishing around that area, especially at night.

    Enjoy your holiday here!

    Hey Mac, thanks.
I have heard of the cod hole but thought you needed a boat to get to it. I know where Swans Boat hire is, near the island with the little walk bridge? (have fished on that island before). What sort of fish do you normaly catch there? Have you ever fished land based there before?

    Thanks alot - Mudguard

Mudguard, i fished the Maroochy most of my teenage years landbased. The mouth can fire on some days depending on conditions. Either side is fine but the north side gives the option of a beach fish too. Also depending on crowd numbers the twin waters weir has its days. Both the last two require crossing the bridge to the north side. The cod hole is a pain in the arse to fish landbased. If you do I would stay away from the actual cod hole and fish the eastern side of the bridges and try to land your baits about 10-15m to the east of the bridge as far out as possible (after the first pier). There is a verry sharp ledge there that I always get shows of fish on the sounder hanging off it.

    Cheers
