    4 or 5 inches?

    hi fisho's.
    i'm looking to buy a garmin sounder and i'm tossing up between the 4 or 5 inch screen. is 4 too small? i'm stretching my budget with the garmin 550 chartplotter but i dont wanna make a mistake by buying the wrong size. HELP!!!!!

    I guess it depends on your eyesight whether you want to look at a smaller screen, but I'd be looking for the one with the highest number of pixels vertically on the screen. This will give you a better resolution and discrimination.

    I've just bought the 550....... Personally i'd be kicking myself if I had bought the 4'' screen. Bigger is better from a chart plotting point of view

    Unfortunately the old saying - " It's not how big it is it's what you do with it that counts" doesn't apply to sounders,

    bigger & more pixels is better.

    Well done shane, just make sure to check what software version you have against the available updates from the garmin website. It's well worth updating, should take you no more than 5 mins.
