    Re: Shimano stradic 2500

I own two 2500 Stradics that I run with 4lb - 10lb braid and most of my fishing is flicking plastics and light lures for snapper, flatties, jacks and bream. On occasions I have caught solid macs and tuna on them out in the bay when I had nothing more appopiate rigged and ready to go. Have also used them at various barra parks for decent fish up to about 6kg and they have never let me down. The drags are very smooth, cast a mile and are smooth as. All I do is rinse in freshwater after sessions, service occasionally and store them (and all my tackle - much to the Mrs disgust) inside, out of the dust and cobwebs.

I love using them and can't fault them but having said that, I am a Shimano fan. Other blokes are Diawa fans and in reality, any of the top end of the range from quality manufacturers should see that you are not disappointed and will keep going strong for years as long as you look after them.

    Cheers

    Re: Shimano stradic 2500

I have both the 1000 and 2500 Stradics. Best small spin reels I have owned. Drag is very nice and reels are smooth.

    Re: Shimano stradic 2500

Depending on how much you are going to use it you may want to consider a cheaper reel, i have a 2500 Shimano Symetre that i use as a SP reel for bream/flathead etc. Its a good little reel and would be of similar quality as the Stradic.

    Re: Shimano stradic 2500

I own the FH model 2500 x 2 and a 4000 and 5000 and they are awsome reels for the money I would reccomend them to anyone.
The newer FI models are even better as they apparently have a better drag that is more water resistant as well as a deacrease in knots in your braid and an upgrade to the bail arm to stop the line catching or so I have been told.

    Re: Shimano stradic 2500

    Cheers for the tips guys,
For a cheaper option i was looking at the seido in the 2500 size

    Re: Shimano stradic 2500

Stradic is the best all rounder and value for money IMHO. Its also the first reel you come to price wise, after youve had enough of el cheapo reels that have let you down.

I wouldnt touch a Siedo, they seem like KMart specials with a shimano badge. Symetre is ok, and very close to the Stradic.

    Re: Shimano stradic 2500

Have a 1000 fi great little reel (replaced my old spirex).Be carefull re mounting the spool as it needs a little twist to get over the line out clicker.Bagged some nice Tassie black bream and trout on mine (softies) running 6lb fireline.
The siedo is a beefed up Alvio (more bearings, Euro carp/fresh reel IMO )
    Cheers

    Re: Shimano stradic 2500

Normally go with shimano though I bought a tierra to try, it goes well but would have been just as happy to get a stradic. I have a sustain which is awsome for the money.
